Tour # 1 ( one day tour )- Monday 6th - 07:00h – EMPARN / Centro Tecnológico CTA is a aquaculture research facility operated by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) and Rio Grande do Norte Agriculture Research Company (EMPARN). CTA is located at Extremóz County and is dedicated to pond research with many native and exotic species. Its facilities includes ponds and labs for the research and producers training. At UFRN, located in Natal, there are facilities for the research of hatchery techniques, nutrition, biology and physiology of native and exotic species.

Cost: US$50,0 per person (for a minimum of 30 persons), including mineral water, lunch, soft drinks and coffee.

Tour # 2 ( one day tour )- Monday 6th - 07:00h – Depart hotel in Natal to visit Potiguar Shrimp Farm located about 150 km north of Natal in the morning. This farm has 110 hectares of sandy ponds operating in a semi-intensive system. Water is pumped directly from the sea to the main channel and distributed to the ponds through inlet gates. Part of the farm uses a secondary pumping system. The present density is 30 PL's/m², the final survival rate is 75% and total production is directed exclusively to the Brazilian market.

12:00h- Lunch in the beach of Touros is included.

14:00h- Visit Biomar Maturation and Hatchery- Biomar is a L. vannamei Maturation (20 million nauplii/day) and Hatchery (100 million PL's/cycle), located near the sea (Atlantic Ocean), in the city of Touros/RN, 110 km north of Natal/Rio Grande do Norte State.

Tour # 3 (one day tour)- Saturday 11th – PRIMAR / CAMANOR

PRIMAR is the first organic certified aquafarm in Brazil. Located at Tibau do Sul County is dedicated to the pond production of Litopenaeus vannamei and Crassostrea brasiliana. The company is in the initial step on developing organic integrated multitrophic aquaculture in partnership with many Northeast Universities.

CAMANOR is one of the most traditional fully integrated shrimp farms in the Brazilian Northeast with more than 20 years under production. Located at Canguaretama County is dedicated to the production of Litopenaeus vannamei. The farms have around 120 hectares of ponds and a modern processing plant. Nowadays the company is developing research for intensive shrimp production.

Tour # 4 (one day tour)- Saturday 11th – Larvi

Larvi is a family hatchery dedicated to the post larvae production of Litopenaeus vannamei, Macrobrachium rosenbergii and spats of Crassostrea brasiliana. Located at Diego Lopes County, inside a Natural Reserve, attend manly small and medium farmers around its facility. The company is also partner with the Canadian NGO World Fisheries Trust in a program for the rehabilitation of sand mollusks populations to increase fisherman communities sustainability.

Cost: US$ 70,0 per person (for a minimum of 30 persons), including mineral water, lunch, soft drinks and coffee.

Tour # 5 (one day tour)- Saturday 11th – Tilapia, vannamei and Macrobrachium farm.

The " Fine Fish Farm" is located 100 km from Natal, Rio Grande do Norte . The basic infrastructure consists of eleven hectares of ponds all connected to a polyethylene pipe system (250mm). The production unit has an installed capacity of 1.000.000 (one million) tilapia juveniles/month. These facilities are denominated Production Center for Tilapia Juveniles. This operation is singular in NE Brazil and certainly one of the biggest juvenile tilapia production facilities in Brazil.

Tour # 6 (one day tour)- Saturday 11th – In the morning, visit Camaraves a L. vannamei shrimp farm, which is well known for having its water intake directly from the ocean through man-made channels. Camarave farm has 115 ha distributed in 30 ponds, which are located in higher sandy land and thus has a two stages pumping system. Camarave operates a semi-intensive growout system, with densities of 20 to 40 shrimp/m², producing 15 gr shrimps in a 130 day period.

12:00h- Lunch in the beach of Touros is included

14:00h- Visit Potiporã Maturation and Hatchery- Potiporã is a L. vannamei Maturation (30 million nauplii/day) and Hatchery (150 million PL's/cycle), located near the sea (Atlantic Ocean), 110 km north of Natal/Rio Grande do Norte State.

Back to hotel same day late afternoon.

Tour # 7 (two days tour) – Visit Aquarium Shrimp Farm, Compescal Maturation, Hatchery, 650 hectare Shrimp Farm and 60 ton/day Shrimp Processing Plant.

Day 1 ( Saturday 11th ) Program

07:00h. Departure from hotel in a comfortable bus to visit Aquarium Shrimp Farm located in Mossoro, about 300 km north of Natal. This shrimp farm has 270 ha of growout ponds in operation and stands out for using underground water and optionally, a recirculation system.

After Aquarium visit, lunch in the city Mossoro is included

After lunch, the next visit will take place at Compescal processing plant which has a processing capacity of 60 ton/day.

Overnight stay in a hotel located in the city of Aracati or optionally the world famous beach of Canoa Quebrada.( the hotels prices are around US$ 40,0, including breakfast)

Day 2 ( Sunday 12th ) Program

After breakfast, visit Compescal Shrimp Farm with 650 hectares of estuarine ponds and then their L. vannamei Maturation and Hatchery units, with capacity to produce 30 million nauplii/day and 150 million Pl's/cycle.

After lunch, in the city of Mossoró, go back to Natal, arriving there late afternoon

Cost: US$ 120,0 per person (for a minimum of 30 persons), including mineral water, 2 lunches, soft drinks and coffee.

Tour # 8 (one day tour)- Sunday 12th – Offshore Cobia

Cost: Dr.Cavalli (UFRPE) inform that the boat for the visit to the offshore cobia research project could transport a maximum of 20 people and cost R$ 1800,00.
